Meet the Doctor
Hi, I’m Dr. Russell.
I am a wife, mom, Optometrist, chocolate lover, and I always appreciate a good quote. I feel fortunate to care for one of our most valued gifts. With over 2 million moving parts of our eye, it is truly amazing how flawlessly it can work.
I spent my education learning about eyes and how it truly can be a window to our overall health at the Michigan College of Optometry in Big Rapids, MI. We don’t need to say how long ago that was, but let's just say I’ve looked at more eyes than I can count at this point. But it never gets old! I feel blessed to have a career that I truly enjoy.
When I’m not in the office I enjoy traveling with my family, game nights (even if it tends to get a little crazy), watching my daughter play volleyball and reading. What you usually won’t find me doing is grocery shopping! Thank goodness for my husband. In fact, I dream about having a personal chef. I’m not into fancy cars or big houses but someone to prepare healthy, edible meals for my family, yes please!
Two questions that I get asked: Is your hair naturally curly? Yes, it is a love hate relationship! Curly haired girls know what I’m talking about! Is your real name Amanda? Nope, just Mandy. Like the Barry Manilow song.

Meet our Optician
Hi, I’m Jessica.
I enjoy a good adventure and trying new things, especially if it means spending time with my friends. One of my favorite experiences was living abroad for seven months in Ecuador with my best friend! It was amazing being able to meet new people, explore the area, and learn about another culture. The most exciting thing we did was go horseback riding up an active volcano to visit the hot springs!
On quiet days, I enjoy curling up with a good book and a hot cup of tea. Afterall, not everyday can be an adventure, but you can still find all the excitement you need in a good book. I also enjoy making art and on the weekends you can find me teaching classes on how to throw clay on a potter's wheel. I don’t know if I would go as far as having a green thumb but I’ve kept many plants alive :) and even put my pottery pieces to good use!
The best part of my job is helping people select the perfect frame. It’s so fun to combine art and science to find the best pair of glasses! Whether you love the process or feel intimidated by all the different styles I am happy to help guide you through!
